Public hospital waiting areas are often crowded, noisy, and are not very comfortable. These factors do nothing to alleviate the stress that family members of hospitalized children are already feeling. They are often tired, scared, and unsure about what the future may bring.
When a family enters a Ronald McDonald Family Room, they are greeted by a volunteer who acts as host or hostess for the room. This volunteer will explain what services are available and help make the family feel at home. The main sitting area provides families with a comfortable place to relax and regroup. In the kitchen they will find a wide variety of light snacks and beverages to help them refuel. There is always a supply of fresh, clean towels and washcloths that families can use for a refreshing shower. Thanks to the generosity of our volunteers and donors, all of these goods and services are provided to families at no cost!
The Family Room program allows Ronald McDonald House Charities of Mid-Missouri to serve thousands of families each year. Ronald McDonald House Charities of Mid-Missouri operates two Ronald McDonald Family Rooms located at University Hospital's Children's Hospital and at Boone Hospital Center.
