"Lifting children and families to a better tomorrow!"

The Ronald McDonald Family Room at University Hospital's Children's Hospital opened in 1999. This 1,200 square foot facility offers families of hospitalized children a comfortable cheery atmosphere to relax in while being only moments away from their child's bedside. Families can recharge by having a snack in the fully stocked kitchenette, sit in the family room, find a bit of solitude in the privacy room, or refresh by taking a shower in the on-site shower facility. Due to generous support of RMHC patrons, families of hospitalized children are provided these services at no cost!

In the spring of 2007, the Family Room moved from the 7th floor of the Children's Hospital to the 6th floor. The grand opening celebration included a ribbon cutting by the Chamber of Commerce, a visit from TJ, and the support of countless businesses and individuals! Thank you to all who made the new room possible.

Guests to the Family Rooms are helped by caring volunteers who document room usage, greet guests, and stock cabinets from the on-site pantry. These special volunteers must also be comfortable lending an empathetic ear to guest families who choose to share their stories. Family Room volunteers are asked to fill one four-hour shift per week. Day, evening, and weekend shifts are available.
